Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

About me

I’m Kit Biggs, Principal Consultant at Accelerando Consulting . I’m on teh socials as @unixbigot@aus.social where I post about technology, cats and publish a daily MicroFiction series called #PowerOnStoryToot . You can fund this writing project with a tip or story commission at my ko-fi .

Some of my projects are available on my Lectronz Store . Note Nov 2025: It seems that Tindie is not operating properly, so I’m moving products over to Lectronz.

My open source projects are in my Personal Github and Consultancy Github .

My career has always been making the magic work properly, spanning over 25 years as a developer, software architect, and engineering manager. Involved with Linux, the Web and IoT since their inception, I am consistently at the forefront of technology and practice.

I and my associates are available to help you build magic products and teams, for an hour or a year. I bring a rare perspective to IoT—I’m as comfortable with a soldering iron as a business plan.

I’m based in Brisbane, but travel the world to learn, teach and trade.

I can help you:

  • Make sense of the Internet of Things (IoT), whether planning your own products or deploying others'.
  • Accelerate and strengthen your development practices with Agile and DevOps.
  • Plan and manage projects and products (software and hardware).
  • Build and mentor your own team, or outsource successfully.
  • I don’t do AI, and neither should you; it’s bullshit.

Posts

Small thoughts. Bigger thoughts go elsewhere.

Presentations

Under (re)construction. Change of theme (Oct 2025) has busted a lot of pages. I’m fixing them as fast as I can! I’m fixing newest presentations first.

Publications

I’m interested in a lot of things, from tiny sensors to big data, and from 12th century handcrafts to lasers. By day I build software and teams. By night, I make robots, and smoke.
